Stuart,
Twenty years is a long time to deal with any medical condition. I wish you well and am happy you have controlled your seizure disorder. Having epilepsy myself I have experienced many troubled times but look to the future. It's been almost 34 years now but I won't quit trying. We are nothing without hope.

Hi Stuart,
I write horror and thrillers. I love horror movies the scarier the better. However, your story is so well written and defies all horror anyone could write. Like in all horror and thrillers, we love it when the hero has a great ending. And you my friend are deffinately a hero. Your character is strong, your wisdom is pure. For anyone who is experiencing what you went through I am so proud that you have shown them that there is a silver lining behind every cloud. I am proud that you have shown them that all dreams are possible if you only keep dreaming. Every door in this life opens to another all we have to do is be brave enough to open it and step through. This book would make an excellent life time movie. You need to send them a copy.
Good luck to you and thank you so much for sharing this experience to the world.
Have a wonderful holiday
Your Friend

Dear Stewart,
Thank you for sharing your experience with epilepsy. Your story is an amazing demonstration of courage and you have shown incredible strength to persevere through challenging times and come out on top. Your book really highlights how intrusive epilepsy can be in daily life, and is an inspiration to those experiencing similar struggles. There certainly needs to be more community awareness of the types of issues faced by people living with epilepsy. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. |

Great book, Stuart!
There is a distinct lack of information available about other people's experiences with Epilepsy Surgery. Especially for those who may be considering it for themselves.
We have a DVD available that explores people's experience with Epilepsy Surgery. Sample clips are available to be viewed on our website www.realtimehealth.com.
Keep up the good work! |

I just wanted to write you a short note and to tell you that the book was so good that when I started I could not put is down until I had finished the whole book. I dont suffer from epilepsy but I found the book to be a fantastic read and very touching at times.
Carry on writing as you are vey good Stuart.

This story of your life with Epilepsy leaves me troubled that the medical society did not diagnose you sooner as not to lengthen your struggles with this unimaginable disease. As I read the book and traveled with you during the "auras" I kept wishing that one of those doctors had an epiphany to help you sooner. My hat goes off to Lisa and your beautiful daughter and son and or course Mac and Verna and your sister who were there for you every step of the way. Your outburst and illusions in life were all justified; look how great you came out and how more astute doctors stand to be after reading this incredible book.
Stu, you will have to write another book - you have a knack for writing and I love the way you use the s in place of the z in some words. Take care!

Hello Stuart,
I would just like to thank you for writing: Beyond my Control, your book has inspired me beyond words. I am in college studying law and I have just been told that I have epilepsy! I thought my whole world, dreams and aspirations for the future were over. Your book has given me hope again. If I can manage a fraction of what you have been able to achieve with epilepsy, I will be more than satisfied.
Thanks again, Marcus |

Hello Stuart,
I want you to know that I have not read your book, just yet, but I would like to in the near future. In 1976, at the ripe old age of 28 , I had suffered a stroke. Unlike Jill Boltes case, I did not have a headache or any pain what so ever. I know that it has been a life changing experience to me. What I am saying, an event like this is not just a change in ones mental or physical state, but is a complete remake of ones point of view in life. This event has profoundly change me for the better. I wish you well in life. Evan Watts |

Dear Stuart,
This personnel journey of your courage and determination will give hopes to others facing similar medical mysteries. No one enjoys others knowing their personnel downfalls, and I thank you for the courageous sharing of yours. Not only is this story of your journey, this is an amazing love story. Your love of Lisa, and hers of you, shines throughout the book. May I add, your description of the hospital coffee is a universal one. Working in a hospital I hear the complaints of it from all medical staff. We drink it because it is free. It is not enjoyable, but it has caffeine! Perfect title!! Beautiful write!!
